Today, we witness the resurrection of circuitcity.com. If the information we interpreted from the video located on the circuitcity website [and other rumors and leaks] is to be belived; it looks like the owners of both Systemax and Tigerdirect are behind the purchase of Circuit City. Tigerdirect and systemax have become pretty acclimated to taking dead retailers and incorporating them into their brand. They did this with the remaining CompUSA stores in Florida and actually renamed their own stores to match that brand, although the websites of CompUSA and Tigerdirect are pretty much identical. So what we’d expect to see is a Tigerdirect website with a circuit city name with Tigerdirect employees taking your orders and all that great stuff. From what we have been able to uncover, there is no indication that they plan to use this brand to try to open new stores or take over old Circuit City stores, but that could definitely be a possibility in the future.
