Intel is presenting Developer Ignite, an event where software developers get together and exchange information. The event will move quickly as each presenter is restricted to a maximum of 20 slides that display for 15 seconds each.

Developer Ignite is sponsored by the Intel Software Network, a community for developers to discuss and learn about topics relevant to their career, their professional development, and their hobbies. Ignite communities already exist in Seattle, Portland, Paris, and New York City. If you want to attend the July event, an opportunity to hear and meet other developers, get moving, as this event will be held July 22, 2009 in Chandler, a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona.

Gangplank has offered their offices for the event. Gangplank is dedicated to encouraging quality technical individuals to remain in Phoenix, rather than drifting off to Silicon Valley. They are building a community based on the belief that web professionals should focus more on collaboration than competition, and that ideas should be shared freely. This organization hopes that small and micro-businesses, as well as freelancers, joining in a common cause, will be the basis of a technology revolution in Arizona?s capital.

To encourage start up IT businesses to make Phoenix their home, Gangplant has created an incubator to provide mentors for new entrepreneurs. Their plan is to help start ups with seed funding, and guide them in finding later stage capital.

As part of their community involvement, Gangplank has a humanitarian goal of providing 2000 lbs. of food to St. Mary’s Food Bank. So bring several cans of food as a donation in lieu of an admission fee, although attendance is free.

Presenters at Developer Ignite are asked to use specific Power Point templates and avoid animation in their presentation. Tips for a good show include the basics: use slides as a visual aid, not as text to be read to the audience; smile and make eye contact with the attendees; and, above all, relax and have fun.

Following these guidelines, presenters will be vying for your attention with topics including: how to develop a neat and useful jQuery plugin; an overview of just how awesome ColdFusion is and why developers should be more open to it; a brief presentation on cryptographic algorithms and key management; how source control, an automated build environment, and an integrated version "labeler" can improve your software management process; and an interesting admonishment that we hope will point us towards appropriate tools, titled, If you aren?t testing your code, your clients should fire you. So, let the discussions begin.

Intel continues to provide evidence via Developer Ignite that the company is dedicated to education ? for professionals, and for children. Intel invests in improving education around the globe, investing time ? 2.5 million employee-volunteer hours, and money ? more than $1 billion over the last 10 years in more than 50 countries. In case you didn’t knew, the chip giant has another face that a lot of people tend to forget when it comes to computer chip companies.

To inform the organizers of your intent to attend Developer Ignite, RSVP to the official mail address, then show up at Gangplank, 325 E Elliot Rd, Suite 34, Chandler, Arizona. The event runs from 6:30PM to 7:30PM.
