Best Buy is at it again. Starting this Friday, through every week in October, Friday is Free Day ? free phones that is. Trying to buck up traffic, and hopefully sales, the big retailer is giving away various smartphones. Four wireless carriers will be represented.
Samsung Fascinate from Verizon, a Galaxy S phone with a 4 inch Super AMOLED display and a 1GHz processor is up for grabs. The Fascinate has an Android 2.1 platform [Eclair], TouchWiz UI and 1GHz for fast downloads and streaming. Unified Contacts is ready for Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, IM and mail accounts. There is a native music player, DivX video player and 5.0 megapixel autofocus, LED flash, camera It has gleaned a 4 star rating in 296 reviews on the Verizon site.
Another Samsung product, the Samsung Gravity 3 from T-Mobile is on the list along with the Blackberry Curve from Sprint, and HTC Aria from AT&T. The phones are free, but the typical catch is a new two-year plan.
Scott Anderson, head of merchandising for Best Buy Mobile says they already offer "free" phones every day of the year, but the Free Phone Fridays promotion is a way to show how serious Best Buy Mobile is about bringing the best deals and best mobile technology to their customers.
