At E3 2012, THQ gave us a glimpse of what could be the most anticipated action horror sequel of early 2013, Metro: Last Light. Continuing from the events of Metro: 2033, players will struggle for survival through Artyom?s eyes again, across the endless backdrop of a post-nuclear apocalyptic Moscow.

The developers worked closely again with Dmitry Glukhovsky, author of the original Metro: 2033 novel, to create new plot lines for this continuation of Artyom?s experience. Huw Beynon, Head of Communications at THQ Inc., believes that Metro: Last Light will be the end of FPS single-player campaigns feeling like a mere shooting gallery:

In what Beynon calls an ?action survival horror?, this upcoming adventure will place more pressure on players to scavenge for resources, cope with more environmental challenges, and offer a heightened combat experience when bullets seal the deal. Gamers will encounter new grossly mutated monsters, along with the same clawed and winged foes of the previous title. Improvements to the AI and destruction characteristics will give way to a more dynamic action sequences, and with more satisfaction this time around.

The hands-off demo also showcased both the new aesthetic changes that will further heighten this game?s cinematic value. The first signs of Spring are starting to appear in Moscow, which means a much richer palette of textures and colors, including outdoor backdrops of vegetation, running water, and even sunlight. This is a nice change of pace compared to the perpetual darkness seen in ?2033?, but gamers will still tread through the Metro?s familiar claustrophobic darkness underground, with danger at every corner.

Enhanced depth of field effects will assist our hero so that he always sees relevant information, such as a ticking wrist watch when oxygen masks start to degrade. Of course no Metro experience is complete without its post-Soviet and post-realist narrative themes, complete with Russian folklore and mysticism, all which are further explored in this upcoming game.

With its spine-crawling gameplay, gorgeous new look, and chilling sound design to pair, Metro: Last Light will be available for Playstation 3, XBOX 360, and PC in early 2013.

Along with their ?Genesis? line of extreme desktop systems, Eddy Piedra and Jorge Percival of Origin PC gave us a quick rundown of their newest gaming laptops, the EON 11S and 17S:

The EON 11S is a repurposed Clevo-based notebook, similar to Maingear?s ?Pulse? 11-inch contender, but available in a wider range of colors and upgrade options. Weighing in at 3.8 pounds, this Nvidia GT 650M toting notebook is advertised to handle all the latest PC titles. Pair that with Intel?s newest Ivy Bridge processors, and NVIDIA?s Optimus power saving technology, the EON 11S trumpets an impressive battery life of up to 6.5 hours.

The EON 17S is Origin PC?s new mobile workhorse based off of Intel?s HM77 Ivy Bridge chipsets. Their selection of desktop-grade CPUs can be factory-overclocked up to 4.8 GHz. The 17.3?? 1080p display is driven by either the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M, 670M or 675M graphics with Optimus technology, and even sports a 5.1 ONKYO surround sound system. There?s even a backlit keyboard with switchable LED colors.

Both laptops have the same connectivity options, including USB 3.0, HDMI 1.4a, VGA, Audio, card readers and so on. However both models do not have an optical drives. Origin PC stands behind their work by rigorously testing systems for 72 hours before shipment, and proudly offer US-based 24/7 technical support.

The EOS 11S and 17S are now available, for a base price of $999 and $1525 USD respectively.
