Newegg is running a crazy good deal right now where they are selling an Acer 4K monitor for under $350, which is half of its original sale price.

Yes, you heard that right. Newegg’s Black November (because Black Friday and Cyber Monday aren’t enough) has given us a pretty awesome deal. This deal is for an Acer B286HK 28″ 4K monitor that can display 4K video at 60 FPS and does it over DisplayPort 1.2. This monitor’s original price was $699, which isn’t that bad for a 4K monitor, but there are others out there with arguably better panels and design than the Acer at that price.

However, at $349, there is no monitor on earth that can compete with a 28″ 4K monitor at that price. In fact, someone recently pointed out that 4K monitors are starting to sell at lower prices than 1440P monitors and for some reason they are easier to find as well. We can partially thank the Chinese panel manufacturers for that, and we can also thank the fact that 4K gaming is finally starting to take off and people just aren’t interested in 1440P as much as 4K.

The other great thing about this monitor is the plethora of connectivity that it supports, which includes DVI (DVI w/HDCP), MHL, Displayport(v1.2) and MiniDP. It also tilts, swivels and adjusts the height. So you could theoretically have three 4K monitors in portrait mode and not even spend $1,000 which is something that was unheard of until today’s Acer deal. In fact, the reality is that you can have 4K surround gaming with these monitors for under a grand and that’s about as much as it’ll cost you to run three Nvidia G-Sync monitors together.

It does only have a viewing angle of 170 (H) and 160 (V) which clearly indicates that it is not an IPS panel, very likely a TN, but at $349 nobody is going to complain about a 4K TN panel. There are plenty of people out there that would happily buy a TN 4K planel for $349 and I suspect that this monitor will very likely not last until Cyber Monday unless Newegg has some ridiculous amount on hand.

CSR, also known by its full name Cambridge Silicon Radio, has had a number of high-profile wins for its silicon including the Beats headset.

Qualcomm said that the acquisition would help strengthen its offerings in the burgeoning Internet of Things space as well as automotive infotainment.

“The addition of CSR’s technology leadership in Bluetooth, Bluetooth Smart and audio processing will strengthen Qualcomm’s position in providing critical solutions that drive the rapid growth of the Internet of Everything, including business areas such as portable audio, automotive and wearable devices,” said Steve Mollenkopf, chief executive officer of Qualcomm in a statement.

CSR was also being courted by Qualcomm rival Microchip Technology (NASDAQ: MCHP), but eventually rejected the offer as the price was not enough.

We caught wind of a pretty sweet backup battery deal on woot.com, a daily deal website now owned by Amazon. This is for the Gorilla Gadgets CHR-150 Uhuru! 16,800 mAh External Portable Battery Pack Charger with LED Screen. Why is this a great deal? Because Amazon is selling it right now for $70, but Woot.com is selling it for $40 and the suggested retail price is $140. But what makes this thing awesome? Well, other than the fact that it comes with three different charging connectors (microUSB, lightning and Apple 30-pin), it can also fully charge an iPad and an iPhone and probably still have some charge left (depending on whether the devices are on).

While Gorilla Gadgets may not necessarily have a very well recognized name, the online reviews appear to indicate that they make a pretty solid product. And while we haven’t reviewed one of these yet, we’ve reviewed similar products before from a multitude of other companies. These guys appear to make a pretty solid product and at $40 its really hard to beat that big of a battery. Unfortunately, even though it does have two USB ports, only one port is a 2A fast-charger port while the other is a 1A trickle-charger port. It would be nice if they had a 2.5A charger like some of the ones we’ve seen from Patriot, but at $40 its really hard to complain. With a 16,800 mAh battery you could theoretically charge something like 10 iPhones before you run out of juice.

So, with that in mind, we recommend you head on over to Woot.com and check out this charger because its a pretty good one and you’re not going to find a battery pack anywhere near that big for that price. And if you do, you probably should worry about whether or not its going to explode in your hand because that’s ridiculously cheap. Don’t forget, once Woot is out, they’re out and you probably won’t see this price ever again so make sure you buy one if you really need one.

So, anyone that has followed the evolution of Woot.com (one of the original deal a day sites) knows that the company grew wildly after its founder Matt Rutledge really got some really great sales going. One of Woot’s most interesting things was that they were very strictly one item per day and that was it. They started to expand into things like t-shirts and other products, but it was mostly one item a day. They also had some of the wittiest product sales pitches in the universe and today, after they’ve been acquired by Amazon, they pretty much seem like Amazon’s dumping ground.

If Amazon can’t sell a product or needs to find a way to sell something quickly, they will either put it up on Amazon’s gold box deals, which are usually products people want, or they will more than likely throw it on Woot.com. The way that they do this is either through putting it up on sale in one of the categories available, or they will sneak it into a ‘Woot-Off’. A Woot-Off is when products MUST be sold out and once they sell out, Woot will move on to another item, eventually reaching the ever sought after Bag of Crap. You buy a bag, or bags of crap for basically $1 and pay the $5 flat shipping rate and you can basically get anything.

In fact, one guy paid basically nothing for an entire gaming rig thanks to Woot.com’s Bag of Crap sales.

Now, moving away from Woot.com and Matt Rutledge’s old project and look at his new project, Meh. Meh.com is quite literally Woot.com all over again, but with a much sharper edge and at least to me, much funnier. Meh is a project of his new company called mediocre. And he does some really interesting things with the data that Woot didn’t do in the past, which makes buying things on Meh all the less meh. For example, Woot usually tells you who bought the first item and which states bought what and how much of that item. But Meh does thing entirely differently, and even more openly. This is all thanks to a Kickstarter campaign that helped fund the creation of the new site.

Meh

And the best part? You can buy it, or just say meh. While they don’t exactly say what will happen if everyone meh’s a certain deal, it will be interesting to see how this new model does against Woot.com because they still are in direct competition with another. I think Matt is right to focus on one deal per day rather than flood users like Woot.com does now.

Mehs
