Gearbox Studios wants to make another entrant in the Borderlands series, and they want your help to do it (assuming, that is, you’re a professional in the video games industry).

“The fact is, we’re not working on a new Borderlands game. But we want to,” Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford said at a special Borderlands-themed panel at PAX South.

“We want to think about the future and we want to think about what the next Borderlands is and we’re going to need some help,” Pitchford continued. “If you are in the industry and you think you can help us, we want you to help us. We want to get started on a new Borderlands game.”

The studio exec also issued the news on Twitter, where he called for all interested “industry badasses” to get in touch to help out with the new game.

“This is the big one,” Pitchford said, possibly hinting at a full-on Borderlands 3 sequel with all the bells and whistles befit a next-gen game.

There’s no concrete details or confirmation at this point, and it may be months before Gearbox is ready to actually start development. Since the studio is expanding, that means its new “hero shooter” IP Battleborn won’t be put on the back burner in favor of Borderlands 3 (or whatever the possible game will be called).

Lady Hammerlock stars in the new DLC for Borderlands: the Pre-Sequel, bringing a slew of sniper-oriented skills and abilities.

In other Pandoran news, the PAX South panel also revealed a new DLC pack for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel that takes players into the chips and servos that serve as the mind of Claptrap. That certainly sounds very much like something Gearbox would do.

The new DLC pack also adds the ice-commanding Aurelia, aka Lady Hammerlock, as  a new playable character. The frosty baroness comes with a host of cold-based abilities and skills, and is actually the best sniper in the entire series.

The Lady Hammerlock DLC will be available on January 27 for $9.99, and will be free for season pass holders.

The new Borderlands Handsome Collection packs in the last two games along with a ton of DLC add-ons for release on PS4 and Xbox One.

Also don’t forget that both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel are heading to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as part of the new Borderlands: Handsome Collection.

The new bundle will feature four-player split-screen co-op across both games for those awesome couch co-op sessions in Pandora. It also comes with a huge smattering of DLC packs and add-ons for the “definitive” Borderlands console experience. Sadly the first game isn’t included.

The collection is slated to release on March 24, 2015 across PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for the standard console games fee of $59.99.

Gearbox today announced that the last two Borderlands games will be making their way to next-gen consoles in the Borderlands: Handsome Collection.

The bundle packs fully remastered versions of the co-op fan favorite Borderlands 2 and the recently released moon-centric Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel optimized specifically for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Both games will be included together on a single disc, and will come jam-packed with a ton of DLC add-ons (pretty much every add-on for both games is included). Oddly enough the first Borderlands game is MIA, probably because it’s harder to port because it’s so old.

Also for the “first time ever in a Borderlands game” this next-gen collection will feature 4-player couch co-op play.

After the travesty that is The Halo: Master Chief Collection, we’ve seen what can happen when a whole bunch of content gets remastered and jammed on a single disc. Let’s hope that Gearbox doesn’t go down this road, and that the 4-player co-op works as intended.

The question remains: how many last-gen games will be resurrected to make a tidy profit on new-gen ports? How many times will gamers be encouraged to re-buy games they already have?

Is this the true motivation for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 not supporting backwards compatibility?

We know that both next-gen systems have dramatically different x86 architecture that prevents older games from being played, but sometimes it genuinely feels like companies are just re-hashing every popular game to bolster the dry months of game releases.

This collector’s edition comes with your very own Claptrap, but you’ll have to shell out $399 to snag him.

And what remastered port would be complete without an overpriced limited collector’s edition?

The Borderlands: The Handsome Collection Claptrap-in-a-box Edition (aye what a mouthful) delivers your very own uni-wheeled robot. Yes, that’s right, you get a remote-controlled Claptrap that can zoom around the room and repeat iconic phrases straight out of the game.

Plus the little robutt has a built-in webcam that streams live-action video feeds right to your phone. Neat. The edition also comes with 12 lithographs and a handsome steel case.

But the Claptrap-in-a-box edition is $399. Ouch. Gearbox affirms that this is an “extremely limited run”, tacked at just 5,000 worldwide units. Still I don’t see many people picking this one up.

The Borderlands: Handsome Collection is slated to release on March 27, 2015 on Xbox One and PlayStation for $59.99.
