Asustor is strengthening its efforts in the high-end NAS segment with the launch of the 50T and the 51T, both of which will be offered in two-bay and four-bay solutions. The new models feature Intel’s Celeron hardware under the hood and come with a host of new improvements.

Both models feature the same set of connectivity options, which include two Gigabit Ethernet ports, three USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, one HDMI port and an S/PDIF port for audio out. Asustor claims that in disk hibernation mode, the power draw is at a meager 12.3 watts for either model, with the number hitting 31.5 watts when running full-tilt. Both models are backed by a three-year warranty.

The 50T is offered in two configurations: AS5002T, which is the two-bay model, and the four-bay AS5004T. These offerings are designed to be used in a home server environment, and feature the dual-core Intel Celeron with a clock of 2.41 GHz and boost clock of 2.58 GHz. The 50T series has 1 GB RAM built-in, but if you should require more memory, you can install up to 8 GB RAM over two slots.

The 51T also comes in the two-bay (AS5102T) and four-bay (AS5104T) variants, but features a beefier quad-core Intel Celeron CPU that is clocked at 2 GHz. The CPU can hit 2.41 GHz with ease when under load. The amount of RAM is doubled to 2 GB, and there is the provision of installing up to 8 GB RAM in the 51T as well.  Also included on the 51T series is the LCD panel at the front hat gives users a quick view at the system settings.

Asustor has announced that it is looking to launch models with similar internal hardware in 8- and 10-bay solutions in the near future to take on what Synology has to offer in the SMB segment.
