The card is set to be officially announced at Nvidia’s GPU Technology Conference later this week, but the full specifications of the GM200 silicon — which is what the card is based on — have been leaked.

Videocardz posted the block diagram of the GPU, with the fully-unlocked silicon featuring 6 Graphics Processing Clusters (GPCs), each holding 4 Maxwell Streaming Multiprocessor (SMMs), for a total of 24 SMMs, or 3072 CUDA cores. A total of 6 memory controllers, each with 64-bit memory means that the Titan X has a memory bus width of 384-bit. Other specs include 192 Texture Mapping Units (TMUs) and 96 Raster Operation Units (ROPs).

In terms of bandwidth, the Titan X clocks in at 1002MHz base and 1089MHz boost, and will offer an astounding 12GB of GDDR5 memory at 1753MHz. While not confirmed, the video card is set to have a TDP of 250W, with one eight-pin and six-pin PCI-Express power connectors. Display connectors include three DisplayPort, one HDMI and one DVI port. Synthetic benchmarks of the card have leaked last week, indicating significant gains in performance over the GTX 980.

Pricing of the Titan X is said to be the case as earlier-generation models, which would come out to $999. The card is slated to make its debut tomorrow, which is when we’ll have further details, as well as real-world benchmarks.

Video card vendor Sapphire is launching another R9 290X version with 8GB RAM, but this time around, the card features the Tri-X cooling system as well as higher clocks and dual-BIOS.

Boasting AMD’s (NASDAQ:AMD) GCN architecture, the R9 290X has 2816 stream processing units with a base clock of 1070 MHz and boost clocks of 1375 MHz. The 8GB GDDR5 memory has a 512-bit wide interface. As is often the case with overclocked versions, the R9 290X Tri-X edition features a custom PCB layout.

The card comes with two 8-pin power connectors, and has a power consumption of 375W when running full-tilt. The design of the fans is targeted at maximizing heat dissipation, which is handled via a main 10 mm heatpipe that is fed by four ancillary heatpipes. The fans are fitted with bearings that protect against dust, and come with aerofoil section blades that “deliver highly efficient airflow at low noise levels.” The cowling itself is designed to route airflow efficiently.

As is the norm for high-end cards, the focus with the R9 290X Tri-X edition is to drive monitors with resolutions of 4K and above as well as multi-monitor configurations, like AMD Eyefinity. The card also features AMD’s TrueAudio technology, which is aimed at delivering a more immersive sound during gaming.

Pricing was’t mentioned, but the R9 290X Tri-X will be available shortly from retailers.

Galax has brought out its own addition to add to the growing lineup of small form factor GTX 970s. The new GTX 970 Black Edition is only 19cm long and packs as much power as a standard sized GTX 970.

Today Galax (aka Galaxy) announced a brand new videocard in its GTX 970 lineup, the GTX 970 Black Edition. The card is meant to be a small form factor that will be compact enough to fit in many small form factor(SSF) cases. The card is only 19cm long and has a very nice custom cooler employing twin 80mm fans sitting atop a aluminum fins fed by three heat-pipes. The card come factory overclocked with a base clock of 1126MHz and a boost clock of 1266MHz. Galax decided to leave the memory alone as it is running the standard 7GHz memory clock. The card will be available very shortly for about €320 from a variety of retailers and etailers.

The Nvidia GTX 970 is currently the “it” card of the moment as it is quite frankly the model that provides the best price to performance ratio. The GTX 970s have been in a constant state of in-stock and out of stock from various sellers due to the popularity. This has created a lot of frustration for consumers who are wanting to upgrade only to find that it is constantly out of stock, and it becomes a game of check the store for availability. The fact is that these cards are so powerful and so energy efficient that to be able to build a small form factor build with one of these new cards would be just as powerful as a full sized system. The small form factor builds are becoming increasingly popular amount enthusiast and with the Intel X99 motherboards coming out in mATX sizes users can now create powerful rigs that take only a fraction of the space as they used to while being more powerful.
