TP-Link, the vendor known for making affordable routers, has rolled out a travel router dubbed Nano (TL-WR702N), which the brand claims it the smallest in the world. With dimensions of 57 x 57 x18 mm, the router is smaller than a hockey puck, and is targeted at travelers looking to share their Internet connection with several devices.

For a router with such a tiny footprint, the Nano comes with a lot of features that include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n compatibility, Quality of Service, built-in firewall and five modes: Access Point (AP), Router, Client, Bridge or Repeater.

The router charges through a microUSB port, which can be connected to a wall, or to a USB port. TP-Link also has a few security features on hand with WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK encryption, as well as a default SSID and password before initial configuration that ensures that the router is not accessible to outside users.

Being a Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, the wireless speed is at 150Mbps, which is more than sufficient considering the router’s use case. Compatibility with most 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi devices means that users will not find any hassle in connecting their wireless devices to the router.

Another factor going in the router’s favor is the price, which at $24.99 makes it a handy utility while on the road. The Nano is now available to buy across Canada, and will be rolling out to other markets shortly.
